LockKM

LockKM — a macOS menu bar utility

Lock your keyboard and mouse
with a single click.

Stray keystrokes while you wipe the keyboard, curious kids and pets, an accidental click mid-presentation. LockKM pauses keyboard and mouse input from the menu bar, and gives it back when you press your unlock combo or when the timer runs out.

See the time left and how to unlock

While locked, a small display in the top-right corner of the screen shows how long until it unlocks automatically, and which keys unlock it now. You'll never be left wondering how to get back in.

  • The countdown updates every second
  • It stays small, so it won't get in the way of your video or slides

Your unlock keys, your timer

The Settings window lets you tune how locking and unlocking work.

  • Unlock combo — just press the keys you want, and they're recorded automatically (default: ⌘ ⇧ Esc)
  • Auto-unlock — 30 sec, 1, 2, 3, 5, 10 or 30 min, or 1 hour (default: 5 min)
  • Cleaning reminder — any lock of 20 seconds or more counts as a cleaning, and a notification reminds you again after 1 to 60 days
  • Launch at login and a choice of display language (12 languages)
Your unlock keys, your timer

Designed so you never get locked out

An app that blocks your input has to make sure you can always get it back.

Always unlocks when time is upAuto-unlock can't be turned off. Even if you forget your combo, input comes back when the timer ends.
Your combo works while lockedEven while everything else is blocked, your unlock combo is always recognized.
A restart clears the lockThe lock state is never saved, so restarting your Mac always brings it back unlocked.
No network, no loggingLockKM never connects to the internet. Keys pressed while locked are only checked against your unlock combo and are never recorded (Privacy Policy).
